Conservation

The Holton Lee site is located on the edge of Lytchett Bay, the northern most part of Poole harbour. Whilst some of the land is farmed the remaining areas form a mosaic of landscapes and habitats which include reedbed, deciduous woodland, coniferous woodland, meadows and heathland.
The land at Holton Lee is recognised as an area of great ecological and environmental significance and consequently is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). In collaboration with Natural England (who own and manage the adjoining reserve to the west of the drive), the site at Holton Lee is being carefully managed so that the wildlife here has the best possible chance to flourish. The conservation work which we undertake aims to safeguard and expand the rare habitats and associated species which are present.
