Residencies

We have several residencies each year and this is your place to find out about which artists have been involved and what projects they are working on. Picture of Sally Booth on her residency in 2007. She stands in the middle of the picture drawing in a sketchbook, there is a post and rail fence directly behind her and a meandow with a line of oak trees stretching out into the horizon.

If you are an artist who would like to do a residency here at Holton Lee in our creative workspaces there are three ways to do so.

  1. Each year there are two one week residencies awarded at the annual Open competitive exhibition.  This is only open to disabled artists.
  2. You can hire a studio for a residency. Artists often apply for funding to do this and we can help you to put together a proposal. Please contact the arts team to discuss it further.
  3. As part of our exhibition programme we sometimes commission artists to make new work as part of a residency here at Holton Lee. We welcome proposals from artists but emphasis that we do not have an extensive budget for this activity.

There is plenty of onsite accommodation at Holton Lee so you can stay here 24/7 if you want to. See our Staying at Holton Lee section for more details. If you are interested in finding out more or have a proposal for a residency please email arts@holtonlee.co.uk or call 01202 625562
